About us
We’re Annija, Lukas, and Mailo. A couple who has spent our entire relationship living abroad, moving from country to country, carrying our lives through diplomatic service, studies, and all the unexpected chapters in between.
Every move taught us something. Mostly by showing us exactly what not to do.
At this point, we have probably made enough relocation mistakes to qualify as honorary experts.
Through all those years and all those addresses, one dream stayed with us. To live somewhere warm, bright, and shaped by the Mediterranean rhythm of life. It was a quiet idea we kept returning to, until little by little, it became real. Eventually, that dream found its home in Sicily.
This move was our easiest so far, largely because experience had already taught us the hard lessons. But Sicily, in its own charming way, still surprised us, especially when it came to housing. The reality behind buying, renting, and navigating the system here easily deserves its own miniseries.
That experience is why Spark of Sicily exists.
It started as a blog and YouTube channel, a place to document what building a life here actually looks like. The beautiful parts, the practical steps, and the slightly chaotic moments that make Sicily what it is.
Over time, people began reaching out with questions. Not just curiosity, but real decisions on the line. Moves, property, paperwork, timing, and money. That is how our independent consultations came to life.
Today, Spark of Sicily is both a public journal and a practical resource. Through our consultations, we help people understand what to expect, where to be careful, and how to prepare before making major relocation or property decisions. We work on the buyer’s side, and when needed, we connect people with real estate agents and auction professionals we trust and have experience with.
If you want to see this journey unfold in real time, you can also find us on YouTube at Spark of Sicily, where we share our daily life, experiences, and lessons as they happen. http://www.youtube.com/@SparkOfSicily
We’re here to share the spark that made us move. If it helps you feel more informed, more grounded, or one step closer to Sicily, then this space is doing exactly what it was meant to do.
